On the occasion of celebrating World Kidney Day 2026, SB Hospital, IMA Thanjavur and Thanjavur Renal Sciences Club jointly organized a grand CME Programme on Chronic Kidney Disease & Renal Transplantation on 15th March 2026, from 08:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Delegates from Thanjavur and neighboring districts attended the programme in large numbers.

CME Programme - World Kidney Day 2026

The programme brought together the top nephrologists, urologists and physicians who delivered in-depth lectures on various subjects relating to the prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease. Expert discussions covered when and how to initiate dialysis, and strategies for avoiding patients reaching an advanced stage of kidney failure.

Key sessions focused on End Stage Renal Failure — a critical condition that necessitates Renal Transplantation, a major surgical intervention — and how improved primary care awareness can significantly reduce its incidence.

📋 Topics covered included early detection, lifestyle intervention, dialysis management, and renal transplantation outcomes in the region.

Dr. Rajeshbabu graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and addressed the delegates on the critical importance of organ donation awareness. His presence and address added great significance to the CME programme, reinforcing the commitment of medical professionals to combat kidney disease across the region.

The CME witnessed excellent interaction between various specialists — nephrologists, urologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and obstetricians — who engaged in thoughtful discussions on improving awareness among primary care physicians.

A key theme was educating patients about prevention — helping them understand lifestyle changes and early treatment options that can significantly delay or prevent kidney failure. The collaborative spirit among the specialties present was a highlight of the day.
